Bunmi Agusto
Bunmi Agusto
b. 1999
Bunmi Agusto’s practice follows the inhabitants of a surrealist wonderland in her mind called Within. The indigenous inhabitants of this world are hybrids whose human form is combined with elements she finds integral to her sense of self and cultural consciousness.
Agusto earned her BA in Fine Art in 2020 from Central Saint Martins where she graduated with First Class Honours and was awarded the Cass Art Prize twice. She is currently an MA candidate for History of Art & Archaeology at SOAS University. Recent exhibitions include: Christie’s, London (2021); DADA Gallery, London
(2021), TAFETA, London (2021); Saatchi Gallery, London (2020); Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, London (2019).
Recent exhibition as part of the New Contemporaries at the Camden Arts Centre presents a mark-making technique that breaks the scholarly rules is a very distinct signature.
