TAFETA will showcase Yinka Shonibare CBE (RA), Ouattara Watts and the revered modernist Ibrahim El-Salahi among their collection at TEFAF Maastricht 2022, one of the world’s leading fine art fairs taking place 25th-30th June.

The 35th edition of TEFAF Maastricht welcomes 243 dealers in total from 20 countries, presenting works of unmatched quality and historical merit to a global audience of private collectors, curators, museum directors, art marketers and enthusiasts. Since opening its doors in 1988 at the MECC in Maastricht, Netherlands, TEFAF has become renowned for presenting many categories of the world’s finest art, antiques and design in an unparalleled collecting experience. The leading fine art fair is widely considered one of the most important in the world with rigorous vetting standards and a reputation built on its commitment to excellence.

Following a debut at the TEFAF Showcase in 2020, TAFETA returns to the  main section of the fair for the first time with a collection primarily presenting works on paper from African artists including:  Royal Academician Yinka Shonibare; Sudanese modernist Ibrahim El-Salahi; pioneering Nigerian modernist Uche Okeke; Brooklyn-based Nigerian-American painter Nkechi Ebubedike; Babajide Olatunji, a hyperrealist painter based in London; Ivorian artist Ouattara Watts; and Washington-based Nigerian artist Victor Ekpuk.

Speaking about TEFAF Maastricht, TAFETA Founder Ayo Adeyinka says, “We are thrilled to be part of TEFAF Maastricht’s 35th edition. Returning so soon after our debut at TEFAF Showcase two years ago, our presence in the fair’s main section is an exciting feat. It’s great to be attending with such a varied and strong collection of works from artists whose influences bridge a multitude of cultural connections. From their bases in the UK, the US and across the African continent, these artists map an exquisite journey that postulates Africa as, to take inspiration from a piece by one our exhibiting artists Uche Okeke, the continent of the future. The wealth of history and expertise in the room at TEFAF is immense – we are happy to be a part of it and add our influence to this historic institution at the MECC.”
